Overview of video
monitor display
The following examples show how the sample positions and
laser spot may be displayed on the video monitor during
sample plate alignment.

Alignment
Ideal sample position
alignment—The center of
the sample position is
aligned with respect to the
laser spot.
You mark the outline of
this alignment on a
transparency to use to
calibrate other sample
positions during
alignment.

misalignment—The

position is not aligned with
respect to the laser spot.
You adjust misaligned
sample positions to ideal
alignment.
